Jaipur is a city known for its monuments, for its history, and for being a Pink City. At the same time, like any other moderately big city of a developing country, there is an urge to be more modern, and you can see examples in this display of a modern store.

This is a photo of the building of the parliament / legislature of the state of Rajasthan in India. We really did not go too close to the building, so this was a long shot, and did not come out really as good as I liked, but this was the only photo of the building I had.
Even though this was the middle of the day, a time when traffic is low, we could see how the traffic near the Birla temple in Jaipur never really stops. You can also see the historic fort like structure next to the Mandir.
This photo of the Birla Mandir (temple) located in Jaipur was taken during the daytime, at a time when it is closed, and all we could see was the beautiful structure along with its closed doors. Some other time we will go at a time when we could go inside.
This is a first view of the white structure of the Birla Mandir in Jaipur. The structure looks beautiful, and we wished that we could have gone inside with a view of the road outside the compound.

The Birla Temple (a beautiful white temple) is one of the landmarks of Jaipur, but when we reached there, it was a time when it was closed, and all we could see was either the gate or the top of the temple visible over the boundary wall.
As we came out of the Jaipur City Palace, we saw this large tree just outside. Such a tree looks fairly old, and also provides some shade in the harsh summer heat, with its large foilage. This is also the spot where people can get some cigarettes and other small stuff.
After a trip to the Jaipur City Palace, you come back to reality. The inside is very beautiful, but when you reach the parking lot, you can see how it is not exactly the epitome of cleanliness. It is just a functional parking lot, and when a heavy vehicle passes, a lot of dust gets raised.
The old market of Jaipur is one of the tourist destinations inside Jaipur, and right inside the old market, you have both the Hawa Mahal and the Jaipur City Palace. The place is full of historical architecture, as can be seen from this ceremonial doorway, crafted in a mix of Mughal and Rajasthani cultures.
Why is it that, even when you see so many photos of pigeons or other birds, you cannot resist taking such photos of your own ? So, when I stepped out of the Jaipur City Palace, just outside the gate I saw this tree and electric pole with so many birds either flying over, or perched on top, I was tempted to take photos, and you can see one of them.
This photo is that of a regular tourist path inside the Jaipur City Palace. These are the series of doorways through which people enter or exit the Jaipur City Palace, and you can see atleast 3 such doorways through which people, in this case, seem to be primarily coming out of the compound. This photo would have presented a chance to show the concept of multiple doorways in the distance in one photo, but with so many people, your attraction is taken towards the people rather than the structure.
Getting this shot took me a large amount of time. I was waiting for a time when there would be nobody in this photo (a lot of photos that I had taken had people / tourists in the photo), and given that this was tourist season, had to wait for quite some time.
The photo is not remarkable other than it shows a section of the Jaipur City Palace which is not as well maintained as the other parts are.

This doorway is more like a small pathway through a structure on top, and what was interesting for me was the obvious love between the two, as well as the way that light and shadow was interacting through the length of the pathway.
As you enter the outside gate of the Jaipur City Palace, and head towards the inner gates of the complex, you come across these line of cannons, all lined up and pointing outwards. Some of them are pointing upwards, while others are pointing downwards, and obviously they are not in use anymore. However, they look good as you get closer to them.
The Jaipur City Palace is a very popular tourist location in the state of Rajasthan, India. A large number of people come here on a regular basis, and it is one of the tourist spots in Jaipur to visit. In this particular case, the staff of the resort are preparing for a celebration to be held there later in the evening, and it involves stringing bright red banners as part of the decorations.

Seems almost like a pose, right ? You have this old looking, metal studded thick door inside the Palace open, and can see a person framed in this open doorway. The photo was taken by chance, and I am somewhat proud of this photo.
This is a photo of a corridor that is towards the outside of the structure, and you can see how it shows a mix of the old and the new. The whole structure screams about the history of the place, about its heritage, and at the end of the corridor, you can see a bright red car, as modern as you can get.
The Jaipur City Palace is a magnificent building, and is very well maintained. Here, you can see this image of a long corridor, with openings on either side, and painted in soothing off-white and cream colors. The floor is inlaid with designs and colored stones.
Inside the Jaipur City Palace, there is a small network of corridors, lined with beautiful items such as paintings, mirrors with colorful beadings, and the like. I used this opportunity to take a self photo, but as normally happens, the flash came on and prevented any detail.
This door was in a slightly inside section of the Jaipur City Palace, and it was also hot, hence there were few tourists in this section at this point of time. I took this opportunity to take some photos of this well decorated door.
Take a look at this section of the Jaipur City Palace that is visible; it is very wonderfully decorated with a flower and leaf design motif; and right next to that, you can see a pigeon sitting right next to it. Pigeons can be found in huge numbers in this structure.

A strange time inside the Jaipur City Palace. Normally a place full of tourists, to the extent that one needs to time photos to avoid tourists coming in this photo, I found a time in the afternoon when there was nobody except for this one tourist in the photo, taking a photo of the architecture.

The Jaipur City Palace showcases the history of the kingdom, the kings (in the case of Jaipur, there was a lot of interaction with the British during the British rule of India), and there are photos and paintings from that time. Next to such a painting, I tried taking a self-portrait in a mirror hung on the wall, and all I got was a general outline, with a flash framing most of the upper body and face.
This is a photo inside the Jaipur City Palace, of a view through an open doorway. The doorway leads into a courtyard, where the sun overhead makes the amount of light in the photo much greater, and makes getting details of the structure in the courtyard more difficult. No easy way to filter for such a contrast in the amount of light, but you can make out tourists taking photographs of the structure beyond the doorway.
This is another view of the previous photo. In this photo, you can see a view from the front, including looking almost inside the mouths of the cannons, and a view of some resting workmen (through the smaller gate inside the large metal door). One thinks sometimes of the life of these guards, who make their living by literally standing in front of the same door for long durations.
The City Palace inside Jaipur in Rajasthan (India) is very well maintained. Here you can see an example of the same. There are these cannons from times of long ago, which are seemingly maintained in mint condition. Next to them, you can see guards dressed in ceremonial costumes, guarding a metal door, made the same way as it used to be for centuries.

When you have a good tourist location, having a place where you can give tourists a chance to rest, have something to drink and something to eat can be a great bonus. It can also make a lot of money if you have good decor, waiters dressed in ethnic uniforms, and high prices to match. This is exactly what this outdoor cafe / restaurant inside the Jaipur City Palace offers.
The Jaipur City Palace in India is maintained very well, inspite of the large number of tourists who visit the place on a daily basis. This is also remarkable as a tourist destination in the sense that there is a public area, and there is a private area. The huge yellow part of the construction is the private area of the Jaipur City Palace.
