The wall around the compound of the Great Sphinx, right next to the Great Pyramid

The Great Sphinx in Giza, right next to the Great Pyramid, is very old, with some speculation that it is even older than the Great Pyramid. There is no clarity about why it was built, after whom it was modeled, and so on. In this photo, you can just see the tip of the Great Sphinx above the wall, and just above that, the top of the Great Pyramid.
