Statue of Admiral Bertram Home Ramsay at Dover Castle

During the second world war, there was a need to rescue the combined allied force from Dunkirk, who were under threat from the advancing German army. It was Admiral Bertram Ramsay who led this effort, operating from Dover Castle. During the latter course of the war, the Admiral led a command center to protect Dover Castle and keep the English channel free from submarines. His statue is placed on the grounds of the Dover Castle.
