The sculpture 'Model for a Hotel 2007' by Thomas Schütte

The sculpture Model for a Hotel 2007 by Thomas Schütte
The sculpture 'Model for a Hotel 2007' by Thomas Schütte rests on the 4th plinth of Trafalgar Square. The other 3 plinths are occupied by statues, George IV (northeast, 1840s), Henry Havelock (southeast, 1861, by William Behnes), and Sir Charles James Napier (southwest, 1855). The 4th plinth was never occupied by a statue due to a lack of funds, and has been holding temporary structures as a demonstration of art. Currently, the idea is that the 4th plinth will showcase works by contemporary artists, and there is no general agreement on putting up a permanent structure.
