Cairo Pyramid - Deep pit right next to the Great Pyramid of Giza - maybe for excavation, or the site of solar boats

This is a deep fenced off pit right next to the Great Pyramid at Giza. Was not sure about what this pit is meant for, whether it was for further excavation, or was the location of solar boats that were found near the Pyramid.
