The limestone hills where the pharaohs dug their burial chambers, close to Luxor
Outside Luxor, there is a region with a number of limestone hills. These are essentially soft rock, which can be dug into, and after the pharaohs saw how the pyramids were getting looted and the after-life of their ancestors were getting disturbed, they decided to become more stealthy, and decided to make their burial chambers by digging into these limestone hills.
