View of Fatehpur Sikri from doorway

This will be my last post on Fatehpur Sikri. This is a view of the large square inside the Fatehpur Sikri complex. I liked this photo as it shows the popularity of the location, given the number of people who are visiting. Also, the lightplay could be improved as the square inside seems a bit brighter, but I still try to ensure that I will post images as they come from the camera without editing them later.

Sunset in Agra fort

This was on a visit to Agra fort. It is a fairly large place, and given that it is around 450 years old, it is in fairly good condition. Read more about the Agra fort in Wikipedia.
This photograph was taken on the way out from the fort. I have been interested in trying to get some nice sunset photographs, and waited for a bit of time to get such a photograph. I like the way that this photo turned out, with the sunset being visible through the fence.
This photo was taken using a Sony DSC R1.

Fatehpuri Sikri Dome

Dome inside Fatehpur Sikri
I really like this photo. It captures the beautiful architecture inside a dome in one of the buildings in Fatehpur Sikri. In addition, it shows the effects that sunlight can produce, in this case, a solid shaft of light being plainly visible.

Buland Darwaza in Fatehpur Sikri

This is the grand structure of the Buland Darwaza in Fatehpur Sikri. It is a great gate built to celebrate a victory. I wish the photograph had fewer people in it, but short of some wizardry with Photoshop or waiting for an off hour, there was no option other than to take several photos with the one having the least number of people in the photo being the winning photograph.
For more details on this structure, refer to Wikipedia.

Architecture of Fatehpur Sikri

A couple of photos of the inside of the Fatehpur Sikri complex. It has buildings with intricate carvings and is very beautiful. Fatehpur Sikri is a World Heritage site and deserves all the praise that it can get.

The tomb of the Saint at Fatehpur Sikri

This is a photo from the front of the tomb of the saint of Fatehpur Sikri. A number of people pay visits to the tomb with a wish or when the wish has been granted. It is considered a very holy place, and people of all religions pay a visit.
Again, if you cannot tolerate heat, try not to go during the summer months of April - July as the whole place will be very very hot.

Fatehpuri Sikri continued

This is one of the older buildings inside the Fatehpuri Sikri complex. As per the guide who was with me when I had gone to Fatehpur Sikri, he mentioned that the original construction of the tomb of the saint was in this sandstone. However, when a later emperor built the tomb using marble (refer the previous photograph), the material from the old tomb was used to build this building.

Fatehpuri Sikri

This is a photograph of the courtyard at Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri was actually the capital of the mighty Mughal empire for 14 years before it was abandoned, primarily due to lack of water. Read the Wikipedia entry.
It is a mighty square, with a white marble tomb for the saint in the middle. People come here for getting their wishes granted. Although, in summer, this whole complex can get very hot.

A proud rose with the last remaining petals

There was this rose growing in my garden. It looked real pretty, but a photo of a beautiful rose is pretty common. For me, the symbolism of the rose still going strong even when it has lost all its petals was pretty great.
Hence this photo, you can the rose with the last couple of petals, and I think these will last for another day or two.

Artifical flowers in a vase

I was just fooling around with a camera at home, and took a number of photos. A number of them were summarily rejected because of lighting conditions, but this photo came out pretty well. This is around 11 AM, but ambient light is low, and the flash managed to actually capture the middle flower pretty nicely.
Just in case people did not notice, these are artifical flowers and will look the same for many months (before starting to look old and faded)

Flower in my garden

This is the photo of a beautiful flower in a pot in my garden. Due to the macro mode of the camera (I used a Sony DSC R1 for this one), the background goes totally out of focus, which in this case is actually desired since I want to focus on the flower and not anything else.
I liked this photo, it seems very beautiful with the way that the flower has opened up and the white colour of the flower.

Brightly coloured marbles

As such, this photo does not have too many things to say about it, not a great location, not some exciting building. What it does have is a set of brightly colored semi-transparent glass marbles that shine a lot. In addition, they are stored in a crystal bowl that also can twist and turn light pretty nicely. I am still trying to get a better photo where each of these twinkles independently.

Sunlight filtering to the road

Sunlight filtering through to the road. This road is fairly shaded, but I literally pulled over and watched the rays filtering through to the road. Looks nice, doesen't it ?
This was in the late afternoon, but the sun was fairly high in the sky.

Sunset from a historic monument

This photo was taken in the city of Agra, India, the same city where the Taj Mahal is located. This is actually in the Agra Fort, the place where the emperor who built the Taj Mahal was later imprisoned by his son.
This photo is dark, and does not have anything great going for it, other than the fact that I tried to see how the sun would be visualized through one of the canon positions; as you can see, the sunrays turned out pretty well.
