A resort on the outskirts of Rishikesh - Facebook post

A resort on the outskirts of Rishikesh, in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. These resorts, with their permanent tents, on concrete bases, make for a confortable stay. During summer, the weather here is more comfortable, and it gets bracing during the onset of winter. Good to go here in a group. Not seen in the photo, but most of these resorts are near the shores of small mountain streams, since that gives the place a great presence and makes it much more attractive for visitors. However, there is a danger that with sudden rains, these shallow streams collect a huge amount of water and overflow quickly.  #Rishikesh

Resorts are places where we go to have a vacation, go to enjoy ourselves. In most cases, the expectation is that these are places which are full of natural (or manmade landscaped beauty). In the image above, it seems like that this is a place where the cottages of the resort are surrounded by a natural meandering stream, and surrounded by an outer layer of trees and shrubs, a natural thicket. This is the view inside the dining room of the Gold Palace resort on the outskirts of Jaipur. There were 2 eating areas inside the hotel, one right inside the lobby, somewhat like a coffee house, and the other was this separate dining area. We were in a group and had a buffet, so this scene was just before the buffet lunch was going to start.

The Lake Palace Resort in Alleppey (Kerala, India) is located on the shores of the large Vembanadu Lake, and is a fairly beautiful location to come and spend some leisure time. We had come in by boat to spend around 3 days there, and after spending the New Year there, we were on our way to proceed to a houseboat. This is an image of the place from our houseboat after we were leaving.

Inside the Lake View Resort in Alleppey, in the state of Kerala, India, look at this attractive site. There was this beautiful swimming pool in the middle of all the cottages, with pool balls calling out attractively to people to come and indulge in the blue water.

This is a view of the beautiful cottages inside the Lake View Resort in Alleppey in the state of Kerala, India. They make for a nice comfortable stay, away from the worries of the world. Spend a couple (or more) days over here, and you can really enjoy the beautiful setting.

The Lake View Palace is a resort located in the city of Alleppey, located on the shore of a large lake. This entire area has a huge network of inland waterways, and a large amount of the transport done by the local population is through these waterways. For reaching this resort as well, there is a need to use a boat, since there is no road reaching the resort.

A jungle trail in Kikar

Part of the pleasure of going to a resort that is surrounded by some form of jungle is the ability to wander off into wilder areas. Here, this is a jungle trail (although the jungle here is actually wild grass) that soon started splitting into multiple trails, enough that we were in serious danger of getting lost.

A cottage in Kikar

This is a cottage in the tourist resort of Kikar. These are small one-room cottages, but they are big enough for 2 people to stay in good comfort, and have attached bathrooms for comfort. Overall, staying in this resort with friends was good.

Lofty view of the rest house

The last photo had the Government owned tourist house being shown from a distance. This photo takes a much closer view of the entire guest house, being taken from just below. This gives a slightly different perspective to the photo. The location is the lake called Siliserh lake in Alwar district of Rajasthan, India.

Good location for a guest house

This is a terrific location for a Government rest house located just on the edge. Once you are in the guest house, you can view the lake from a good height, and also climb down steps such that you reach a boathouse from where you can take motorized or manual boats.

This is a photo of a location in Rajasthan, in Alwar district, on the way from Sariska to Delhi. There is a lake, and on one edge of the lake, there is this hill with a Government rest house on the top. This photo was taken while boating on the lake whereby you get a view of the sunset just happening over the hill and over the rest house.

Ducks at the Kikar Resort

Part of the enjoyment for small children at the Kikar Resort is in seeing these ducks. Children stare at them, and try to get closer, with the ducks trying to waddle away and make noises. It is a lot of fun, and gets the kid to break out in laughter.

A cottage in the Kikar Resort

There is this Kikar Resort located close to Chandigarh. It is located in its own large compound with a mixture of plains and hilly terrain, very good for a group to go and enjoy over a weekend. Over there, you can live in a cottage or a tent.

A small waterfall on a pool

I like these kind of photos. This is actually a photo of money flowing from a pool at a higher level to a pool at a lower level. This is located in the Kikar Resort which is pretty close to Chandigarh. The water flowing with this volume tends to look nice, and many times, with light following on it, can form a good water-light interface.

This is another view of the inside structure of the Taragarh Palace. It seems very well maintained and clean, and when I went there, the place had a very good ambience, including an excellent buffet restaurant.

This is the inside view of the Taragarh Palace, a heritage hotel in Himachal Pradesh in India. The heritage hotel is located near Palampur and has a big compound, with around 16 rooms.

This is a line of tents at the Saatal jungle camp. There are a number of such tents located next to each other, each of them securely fastened to a concrete base, and decently comfortable. Each of them has 2 beds, and one lantern hanging outside for use at night.

This is the inside of a tent at the Saatal camp. In the Saatal jungle camp, there are a number of tents placed on concrete foundations, and they are fairly comfortable to stay in. We had gone with a whole group, and it was pretty good.
