Abu Simbel is a very popular tourist destination in the southern part of Egypt, located close to the border with Sudan, but far away from the nearest town of Aswan. Abu Simbel is actually located at a distance by road of around 260km from Aswan, and takes around 3 hours by road to get there (but you can also get there by flight, or by ship across Lake Nasser). Most people who travel there go by road, and since traffic there is only allowed through controlled convoys, you will find a number of large tourist buses that carry groups of tourists. In this photo, you can see tourist buses in the parking zone of Abu Simbel, with their drivers waiting along with the buses.

Drivers and tourists near the parked buses at the Abu Simbel temple in Egypt

Abu Simbel is an integral part of the route for many tourists (arriving there by flight, or by cruise ship, or by road). The most popular way for people to get there is through the road route, taking a 3 hour trip on an empty road that leads from Aswan to Abu Simbel. This trip is through regulated convoys, twice a day, and a number of buses and other tourist vehicles make this trip. This photo shows the parking site of the temple along with the buses parked there and the drivers of these buses.

Given the distance between the large city of Aswan, and the temple of Abu Simbel (a distance of around 260 km) along with need to ensure security for all the tourists, travel to the temple complex is only at permitted times, in convoys. So, buses are a favored way to reach to Abu Simbel, since they allow larger groups to travel in comfort. In this photo, you can see tourists emerging from their buses, parked a short distance from the entrance gate of the Abu Simbel temple and with a view of Lake Nasser in the background.

Buses parked outside the huge temple of Karnak in the city of Luxor

The town of Luxor has a long history, being very prominent during the time of the ancient Egyptians. As a result, the city now has some of the most prominent remains from that time period, and is a natural tourist stop. One of the biggest such tourist destinations in Luxor is the huge temple complex of Karnak, which is not fully open to tourists and is yet spectacular.

Parking of buses at the Valley of the Kings outside of Luxor

The Valley of the Kings is a very popular tourist destination inside Egypt, with it being on the tour circuit for anybody who is visiting Luxor. The Valley of the Kings contains the tombs of a number of pharaohs including the most famous one, Tutunkhamen, and in his case, his mummy is kept at the site (which is not open to visitors as I could determine). Further, carrying a camera is not permitted beyond the entry gate, so no photos after this.
