Like the previous photo, this photo shows a painting of the Mughal emperor in his court, listening to a musical performance. Many of the Mughal emperors were patrons of the art, and encouraged the performances of music and arts. This painting is inside the Gold Palace resort located on the outskirts of Jaipur.

The Gold Palace resort is a luxury resort on the outskirts of Jaipur, set in a large location. Inside the hotel, you can see these fairly beautiful paintings on the walls of the lobby (next to the coffee shop) depicting scenes from the times of the Mughals (in the painting, you can see a Mughal emperor on his throne).

Jaipur has a thriving market, a older market section. This is a well preserved and very crowded market section, with the shops all following the same design (with the color and the naming structure of the shop remaining the same). This is a photo, taken from inside a car (and you can see the reflection in the glass) that shows some of the decorated gateways that leads to the market area.

In this photo, you can see a performance going on in the tourist village of Chokhi Dhani. This is a square platform built with bricks and covered with a thin layer of concrete, and every night, these artists perform a traditional Rajasthani dance, complete with pots and lanterns. Because of fire nearby used for cooking, there is a lot of smoke in the air, and it is clearly visible in this photo.

In a previous post, I had mentioned about how puppet shows would serve as a source of story telling and amusement; this post gives a much detailed look at the puppets used. Obviously, they are no match for 3D realistic computer aided animation, but they have a certain appeal (but the whole concept of puppet shows are a dying breed).

One of these cultural items was about how people in the countryside amused themselves, and a puppet show was one of them. It was not only amusement through, since mythological tales would be narrated through puppet shows and a number of people would watch.

One of the more interesting aspects of traditional Rajasthani culture is the view of dancers, especially the way that they dance using traditional earthen pots and also dance on top of metal tumblers. This photo was taken at night time, with some dancers sitting on the side, and one standing on top of the metal tumblers.

The museum inside the Chokhi Dhani tourist village contains a mix of different instruments used by the traditional people in the rural areas of Rajasthan; in this photo, you can see some of the more deadlier instruments such as swords, shields, and other fighting equipment.

With everything else in the shape of village like structures, a small wooden bridge, a cave, good food, what else could the creators of the tourist village of Chokhi Dhani do ? They put in a very small lake, fed by a small waterfall cascading down the slope of a small section of rocks at one end. However, since this is night, people can't really enjoy the lake as much as they would like.

Here, the exit from the cave has been made in the shape of the hollow inside a tree trunk, something that adds a touch of interest to the cave.
