Inside the Jaipur City Palace, there is a small network of corridors, lined with beautiful items such as paintings, mirrors with colorful beadings, and the like. I used this opportunity to take a self photo, but as normally happens, the flash came on and prevented any detail.
The Jaipur City Palace showcases the history of the kingdom, the kings (in the case of Jaipur, there was a lot of interaction with the British during the British rule of India), and there are photos and paintings from that time. Next to such a painting, I tried taking a self-portrait in a mirror hung on the wall, and all I got was a general outline, with a flash framing most of the upper body and face.
Another view of the great silver water container used for carrying Holy Water to far away lands. As you can see, even after so much time, the container is very shiny and extremely polished, acting as a mirror.
This is a room lit only from the light appearing through the windows. I had gone to a resort called the Shiva Oasis in Behror, Rajasthan for the weekend, and in the daytime I saw that the main lobby did not have lights on, only the diffused sunlight from the windows.
This created a good effect. I tried with and without flash, and I think that the above picture without flash gave the best effect.
This is another strange photo that I was just trying out. Ignore the condition of the bathroom and the sorrounding; I just wanted to see whether the flash can be captured through a photograph. So I tried numerous times, standing far away and close to a mirror, and this photo seemed to capture the flash pretty well. In case you are still wondering, the bright spot in the photo is the flash from my camera reflected in the mirror.
