An old canon inside the tourist village of Chokhi Dhani

An old canon kept inside the tourist village of Chokhi Dhani, near Jaipur. When you look at this canon, you can see how it looks very old, and in a pretty bad condition, but is also very old.

As you enter the outside gate of the Jaipur City Palace, and head towards the inner gates of the complex, you come across these line of cannons, all lined up and pointing outwards. Some of them are pointing upwards, while others are pointing downwards, and obviously they are not in use anymore. However, they look good as you get closer to them.

This is another view of the previous photo. In this photo, you can see a view from the front, including looking almost inside the mouths of the cannons, and a view of some resting workmen (through the smaller gate inside the large metal door). One thinks sometimes of the life of these guards, who make their living by literally standing in front of the same door for long durations.

Guards with canons in the Jaipur City Palace

The City Palace inside Jaipur in Rajasthan (India) is very well maintained. Here you can see an example of the same. There are these cannons from times of long ago, which are seemingly maintained in mint condition. Next to them, you can see guards dressed in ceremonial costumes, guarding a metal door, made the same way as it used to be for centuries.
