Cairo Pyramids - The steep steps leading up from the burial chamber in the structure next to the Great Pyramid

In this photo, you can see the steep steps that are leading to the burial chamber (or rather the steps leading away from the burial chamber). These are not easy to climb, and ensure that any trip to the burial chamber involves some effort.

In this photo, you can see a tourist starting to climb down to the burial chamber (this is a small burial tomb of a relative of the pharaoh, right next to the Great Pyramid). The steps are steep, and there is really not too much space available.

The burial chambers in the area of the Great Pyramids (and in other places) were not really meant for people to visit later. The steps inside were steep, and it was only later that there was effort put in to make it friendly to tourists.

This is a photo of the entry to a small tomb at Giza, just next to the Great Pyramid. Unlike access to the burial chamber of the Great Pyramid (that costs US $ 10), the entrance to this tomb is free and is not very deep (but is of a relative of the pharaoh, not the pharaoh, himself).
