The Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner

The Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner
The Wellington Arch (also called Constitution Arch) is now at the center of a big traffic island located south of Hyde Park in central London. It is meant to commemorate the victories over the French in the Napoleonic Wars, and the arch was finally unveiled in 1830, and in 1846, a statue of Sir Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (and Prime Minister) was unveiled in an equestrian pose on top of the arch.
