Pond of water inside the Karnak temple in Luxor

Typically, most temples have a pond of water or some other source of water. In the case of the Great Karnak temple in Luxor, the pond of water is located near the rear of the temple, and must be pretty deep when full. Right now, the level of water shown in the pond is pretty low from the high point (you can see that in the walls of the pond).
